I can‘t say that I‘m a big fan of Mondays!
David Bowie died this morning.. and the first thing I thought was: Ugh! typical he had to die on a Monday!
David Bowie was a special man and his artistry has a special place in my heart. He was a true talent that let inspiration take over in everything he did. He didn’t follow social norms, especially when it came to his image, clothing, make up and music in general.
I read an interview with him once where he said that most people are afraid of doing things that are not considered „right“ in their social class.. So, for example: If you’re a teenage guy coming from a conservative family that loves football you are not very likely to go and study ballet, but if you come from a family of dancers it‘s not considered weird at all.
I always found this very interesting, specially cause I come from a small town in Iceland with 20.000 people and two big football teams and all the guys in my class were playing in one of those two teams.. I on the other hand started learning jazz ballet when I was a kid and then ballroom dance and since I was the only guy in my school learning to dance it wasn’t really easy I can say..
Well I‘m not going to go on about that but the point is… Bowie has been an inspiration to me to just do what the fuck I like and not give a damn what other people say and I am very thankful to him for that.
This song has always been my favorite and I hope he will rest in peace.
